Add an AI agent to Slack with FastClaw
Connect a FastClaw agent to Slack via Socket Mode — answer DMs and @-mentions in channels, no public URL required.
Socket Mode
FastClaw opens the connection to Slack, so the bot works behind a firewall with no inbound webhook.
Checked with auth.test
The bot token is validated against Slack's auth.test before it is saved.
Channels and DMs
Reply to direct messages and to @-mentions in channels, each with its own session.
What you can do
- Give your team an internal agent that can read connected tools, run skills and post scheduled reports.
- See how teams roll this out in FastClaw for teams.
- Serve the same agent on Feishu or Discord too.
Set it up
- Create an app at api.slack.com/apps and enable Socket Mode.
- Create an app-level token with
connections:write. - Under OAuth & Permissions, install the app and copy the Bot User OAuth Token.
- Under Event Subscriptions, subscribe to
message.channels,message.imandapp_mention, then reinstall if prompted. - In FastClaw, open the agent → Channels → Slack, paste both tokens and connect.
- Pair by sending
/pair <code>from your own Slack account.
Notes
Slack is one of FastClaw's IM channels. For multi-replica deployments, enable Redis so only one replica holds the Socket Mode connection.
